I don’t know about you, but I need to get something done every day or I feel lazy.
I’m pretty happy with what I got done this Saturday!
I went to the Katonah thrift store and found a bunch of amazing vintage things I can’t wait to show you on Monday for “Thrifty & Vintage Finds,” I cleaned up our porch after Don installed a screen door, and I finally decluttered our coat closet!
When we moved into the Blue Cottage, I shoved all kind of boxes into the coat closet, and that’s what it still looked like after all this time.
Aside from our jackets and vests, Landon’s little golf bag is in there, tennis rackets, boxes full of items I need to photograph for my Etsy store, four hanging shoe organizers, and all kinds of other clutter.
I was sick of not being able to close the sliding doors because the closet was so filled up. After my bathroom closet makeover, I was itching to declutter this closet.
First, I took everything out of the closet and vacuumed it. Then I added the two new shoe organizers and started filling them with shoes I wanted to keep. I ended up with a big bag of shoes I’m going to donate.
This is what the cleaned-up, decluttered, organized closet looks like now!
I nailed a pretty hook from Anthropologie on one side of the closet to keep all my scarfs in one spot from now on, and then I added several baskets to the shelf that will hold all kinds of odds and ends.
And since there was space, I also put my box full of ribbons on the shelf. Painting over those screws is another project that’s on my list.
This is what the shoes look like now, all organized. I’m going to be on the lookout for two more of those new shoe organizers to make this look even nicer. And I’ll add a small area rug under the shoes for a pop of color.
We have several more that need a makeover.
