Gifts Under $50
I wasn’t planning to write a gift guide this year — I feel like there are so many around, and they all kind of mentioning the same thing and not much that’s really unique and new.
But recently I found several things for myself that I absolutely love that would make special and appreciated gifts that I wanted to tell you about, so I decided to compile them in this post.
And they are all under $50 — many even under $20!
If you don’t want to read through the whole article, here is the list of gifts I’ll be covering:
- Small tabletop heater
- Stylish silver makeup bag/travel accessory travel bag
- Neewer TT560 Speedlite Camera Flash that makes ALL the difference
- Plant mister for the houseplant lover or killer (I’ll explain)
- Arnica gel for the sports lover and athlete, or any mom
- Rush Hour Logic Game for kids
Gift for Someone who is always cold or wants to save on heating costs
This is the smartest investment I’ve made all year, and it only cost me $40.
If you know anyone who is always cold — like me — they will absolutely love you for buying a little electric heater for them that looks like a small fireplace.
I’m very sensitive when it comes to colder temperatures. I need the house to be at least 70 degrees, or I’m super uncomfortable in the winter, even with two pairs of socks on.
Since I often work until 2 am, that means that I’m keeping the heat on downstairs half the night, which I’m sure adds hundreds of dollars to our gas bill.
When I stumbled upon the little Lifesmart Tabletop Infrafred Fireplace on Boscovs.com for only $40, I bought it right away, and I’m thrilled with it!
It looks so cute, it has a wood housing, and it keeps our living room warm enough that I don’t have to put on the heat at all.
Plus, since it runs on electricity and we get ours from solar, it basically doesn’t cost me anything to run it. Win-win!
At this affordable price, I’m thinking of buying another one to actually put into our non-working fireplace for ambiance.

Glam for Under $20
Small Silver Makeup Bag/Travel Accessory Organizer ($9-$15)
I’ve had my makeup bag for about five years — it was a freebie that came with some makeup. It’s perfect because it’s small and fits on the little sidetable in our bathroom.
It was time to get a new one — totally overdue since it was discolored from makeup — but for the longest time I couldn’t find one that was small enough (I don’t own a lot of makeup) and easy to grab the makeup out of.
The bags I found were either too tall, too skinny (they would fall over), or too pricey.
Last week I finally found a nice one at T.J. Maxx, for just $5.99! It has a flat bottom, is waterproof, and has one little pocket in the front for little items — perfect.
It’s silver and looks all glam, and I’m thrilled with this little upgrade I’m looking at every day. Sometimes the smallest things can make you happy.
Here are similar bags that will bring a little glamour to any bathroom or travel plans. Any woman can use an extra little makeup bag. Or store all kinds of things in it, like phone chargers.
This one only costs $8.99 right now!
These next two only cost $14.99 each right now.
The Perfect Gift for Bloggers or Photography Lovers
Neewer TT560 Speedlite Camera Flash — for Just $40
I’ve been meaning to tell you about this marvel of an inexpensive flash I have been using for over a year on my Canon Rebel.
It has made ALL the difference in being able to shoot higher-quality photos in our cottage. I used to have to edit my photos so much in the past, and now I don’t have to struggle with shadows from different directions anymore at all.
I read about this flash on a blog, and since it was so inexpensive, I took a chance and bought it. Best investment ever.
Gift for Plant Lovers (or someone who has a hard time keeping them alive)
Plant Mister ($14)
Don’t gift a plant or flowers — gift a plant mister!
I have terrible luck with houseplants, especially with succulent plants, which are supposedly so easy to take care of.
I kill them every time. I finally read up on what I was doing wrong, and it seems that succulents don’t like to be watered. They want to be misted.
So a mister would be a great gift for a plant lover or someone who is having a hard time keeping them looking nice.
I took a look what’s available on Amazon, and I can’t even decide which one I like best — the brass one, the copper one, the glass one, or the vintage one.
Isn’t this pretty? It’s only $13.99 right now!
Gift for the athlete, sport lover, or mom
Arnica Cream or Gel ($11)
I give this away as if I own stock in the company — because it works so well for bruises and pain.
I bruise easily and would be black and blue if I wouldn’t put this arnica gel on every bump.
Don and I and Landon reach for it about once a week, to deal with a bruised elbow or similar, so we have several tubes of it in the house.
Since Don’t sisters and my brother-in-law are all serious runners and athletes, I like gifting this to them. It’s practical and they really appreciate it.
Boiron homeopathic arnica Arnicare Gel is made from Arnica montana (a mountain plant from the daisy family), which is 100% natural. Arnicare Gel has a cooling effect for fast pain relief.
Buy one for yourself, and gift one — maybe make it part of a little gift basket.
Clever gift for kids
Rush Hour Logic Game for Kids ($20)
I’m always looking for fun games for Landon that are more interesting than the darn Ipad, and this has all the elements.
Rush Hour is a solo puzzle game where you need to navigate a car out of traffic jam. It requires you to think ahead and has snap-in pieces that also makes it ideal in the car or when traveling.
I’m getting this for Landon for Christmas – I think he’ll really like it, and I’ll have something to point to when he complains about being bored. :)
I hope you got some great gift ideas from my list of unique gifts under $50.
Pin this for later — I will keep adding more amazing gift choices in the future!
