Easter is coming up soon! Coloring Easter eggs naturally is a lot of fun and results in beautiful, pastel colors. Have you ever tried it?
In my opinion, natural dyes for Easter eggs from fresh vegetables and spices are so much prettier than store-bought, fake colors.
I’ll also teach you how to make easy, edible alien eggs in this post. The kids will love those!
Spring is here, and I’m excited to decorate and get ready for Easter.
I cringe at the sight of bright food dyes probably more than most people because I grew up in Germany without them. You won’t find much food coloring in Germany — I think they don’t allow it in food.
Food dyes not only make food look unnaturally and unnecessarily colorful, they are plain unhealthy.
Food dyes have been linked to cancer, and hyperactivity, plus more and more kids are allergic to food colors.
I try to not buy anything with food coloring, and I was the mom who scraped off the blue frosting from the birthday cake when my son went to parties when he was little. [Read more…]
The Blue Cottage is decorated for St. Patrick’s Day! I made this super easy DIY St. Patrick’s Day banner — here is the tutorial.

I’ve been itching to write about this amazing historic house, all the quirky things that come with a house that’s over 250 years old, the barns, the cottage, and the almost 7 acres.
And I’m finally revealing what we’ve named the farm.
My husband and I had the same dream of living on a hobby farm, and we wanted to find something in Bucks County, PA. We love this beautiful area full of farms, rolling hills, and old stone houses, and we used to drive here a lot on weekends to go out to lunch or to antique stores.
Spring is just around the corner – yay! In this post, I want to inspire you to make your porch your favorite “room” of the house. Check out these beautiful porch decorating ideas for spring that are easy to do and don’t break the bank.
This is my porch. As you can see, I like decorating it in a vintage farmhouse decor style. Aside from sitting out there, I enjoy decorating it for every season.
I don’t know what I would have done without my sweet little porch while I stayed home during the pandemic. On many days, I like to grab a coffee and a good book and sit in my rocking chair for an hour.
