I’m a fan of fool-proof, easy recipes because I don’t have the time to make elaborate meals.
I usually try to get around slaving in the kitchen for hours and like to whip up something fast that still makes a big impression.
It has to be easy and healthy — and for Fourth of July I wanted to come up with something that doesn’t involve yucky food coloring.
Pinterest is overflowing with Fourth of July food full of blue and red food dyes, and I want no part of it.
Would you actually eat this?!
This I’d eat in a second:
Patriotic Fourth of July Dessert
This patriotic dessert for Fourth of July couldn’t be easier: just berries and yogurt in a mason jar.
I pureed strawberries in a blender, put them into the glass first, and added yogurt and blueberries. That’s it!
As a variation, you could use vanilla or lemon ice cream or whipped cream for the white layer, or whole strawberries on the bottom.
What about adding some almond extract to the yogurt? Yum!
You could also decorate the glass with stickers or little flags, or red, white, and blue ribbon.
Here are more Last-Minute Patriotic Snack Ideas for Fourth of July you can also make without food dyes.
Pin away!
Will you make a special Fourth of July dessert? Let me know in a comment or add a link to your recipe — I’d love to see it.

It doesn’t get much easier than this! Every once in a while I’ll use a blue or red dye but I try to keep those times to a minimum.
