Welcome to the Blue Cottage! If you follow Dagmar’s Home, you know we just recently bought and moved into our new house, which I named the Blue Cottage.
It’s little and compact, with a small yard and a lot of trees around it. It’s a cozy, comfy home, and I just love it.
In the last few days I’ve had time to unpack more boxes, organize things a bit more, and decorate the porch.
It’s funny how all the things I’ve bought for years kind of find their perfect place in this new home — I guess surrounding yourself with the things you love just works, even if those items are from different eras and different styles.
The 20-pound cast iron farm house I scored in July for $3 has been greeting visitors since we moved in here, and now it’s also part of the fall decor on our porch, as well as the large vintage spindle I bought at a tag sale.
I bought those pretty yellow flowerpots just two days ago at a garage sale for $7 because I knew their color and size would be perfect for my fall porch decor. The pumpkin caddy is also a tag sale find.
I added the boxwood tree I recently bought from a local nursery with a Groupon and my Ikea rattan chair I’ve had for over 15 years. That baby has survived — let me think — eight moves.
Now I have a spot to sit and drink my morning coffee — if I can find the time. So far I haven’t :)
Do you have a porch? Here are 10 more ideas of how to decorate your dream porch I put together two years ago, something for every taste. Enjoy!

this is so cute! This is probably the only thing I miss about having a house – can’t really do this living in an apartment, but I think I’ll at least do a door decor idea and a pumpkin :)
