Wordless Wednesday: Driveway

Wordless WednesdayWordless Wednesday: Driveway

Gosh, so much is going on. I really need this year to slow the heck down.

We knew a snow storm was coming, so I had to change plans yesterday and drive to my booth at the Newburgh Vintage Emporium to drop off more vintage treasures.

I raced back to make a conference call that then didn’t happen, and it goes from there.

I have spent hours on the phone with our darn health insurance again this week, school was canceled, L is playing Titanic in the bathtub, the living room is full of Christmas decor for a tablescape I want to style and photograph, and I have about five other posts to write.

I ate left-over cheese cake for breakfast this morning. That’s how crazy things are.

BUT…

We finally, finally have a proper driveway!

I’m so thrilled that finally happened that I’m not even mad that it’s now covered with snow. We went with Unilock pavers because we need the drainage. I like how it adds to our cottage look.

Yesterday I spent an hour landscaping, spreading out wood chips next to the driveway during a beautiful sunset and while a deer was walking past me 5 feet away.

Now it looks like this. I put the bucket and cones next to the driveway hoping the snow plows don’t chew it up days after it was put in.

Don’s little birthday present tree we planted last year has grow quite a bit. He still looks so little, but that is going to be one massive tree one day, with fire-red fall leaves.

I bet you have been busy as well, preparing for Thanksgiving. These posts can help if you need last-minute ideas:

Getting ready for holiday shopping? If you are near Newburgh, the Emporium is having a huge Black Friday sale on November 28: the whole store is 20% off! (everything over $20). I bet you can find unique, one-of-a-kind  gifts for many people on your list there.

What have you been up to?

I love your driveway! It is a thing of beauty. :)

I remember the day our plain old concrete driveway was poured and how excited I was to have it. We have too many blessings to count.

One day you will look at that tree and try to remember this day.

Also? I ate cheesecake for breakfast quite a few days lately. My daughter made one and it was so doggone delicious I could not stay away from it. I think I ate about half of the thing. Usually I can leave them, but a perfectly thick homemade one? Apparently I am defenseless around them.

Hi Tammi, I love our driveway as well and am so thankful that it’s done. Definitely a nice Christmas present. Now we can finally work on the yard — in the spring. My mom makes the best cheesecake — in Germany, with Quark. Very hard to get here but way less calories.
