Welcome to “Thrifty & Vintage Finds” link party No. 96!
If you found an amazing deal lately, a vintage or thrifty find, then I’d love you to link up. You might get featured next week!
Can we talk ugly lamp?
Queen Elizabeth-hat ugly.
Tada! I bought this glass lamp a while ago for just a few dollars at a tag sale, and doesn’t it have the ugliest lampshade ever? Shudder.
I want to bust out laughing when I see that lamp shade. It’s so ugly, it’s kind of pretty, right?
But I liked the base — glass and crystal lamps are really popular right now, and I like the vintage touch of this one. I knew this would look cute with a different lamp shade.
The other lamp base is from a Meyda Tiffany lamp like this one. I bought it for $3, and I’m thinking of spray painting it white.
Should I?
I recently picked up these two lamp shades to see if I liked the look of them for the two bases.
Hmm. I wasn’t sold on the gray lampshade with the modern pattern. I’m not sure that one will work with my cottage look.
It would work in my office/craft room, but it’s too big to be on my desk in there.
In the end I decided to use the smaller lamp shade on the glass lamp, and I’ll look for a smaller lamp shade for the other base. I might use it on my bedside table.
Which lamp shade would you prefer?
Did you show off your latest find last week? If you linked up, thank you!
I decided to feature Vickie, who writes Vickie’s Kitchen and Garden. She found these two things for free. You could paint that basket bag with chalk paint and it would look amazing.
Thanks for linking up, Vickie! Feel free to add this button to your post or blog if you like.

If you weren’t featured this week but would like to be, just link up the same post again, and any new ones.
Your turn! If you’ve picked up a thrifty or vintage find lately, I’d love to see it.
I’m thrilled about any link, but if you want to get featured, please only link up thrifty or vintage finds, and link back to this post. I also feature DIY posts if you transformed something that was originally a thrifty or vintage find.
And after you link up, it would be lovely if you would share this party — pin, stumble, tweet away! The bigger the party, the more exposure for all of us.
How to link up:
- Link up posts about your thrifty or/and vintage find.
- Please add the party button to your post {see code below} or a link back to this link party post so others can be inspired to join in the fun.
- Only posts with a link to this party will be considered for a feature.
- No links to giveaways, or shop or Etsy sites please.
- By submitting a link you are authorizing for your project to be featured. Featured links will include a photo and a link back to the originating site.

December 16, 2015 at 10:18 PMHi Dagmar–I love both the lamps, but I’m with you, a bit unsure about which shade is right. I sort of feel the one you settled on might be a bit too short, but it may be the angle of the photo. Thanks so much for hosting :)

December 16, 2015 at 4:10 AMDagmar, that lampshade is almost so ugly that it is cute! LOL! I wonder if you could do something with the original shade like take off the frou-frou and paint it. Just a thought! I love the 2 lamps.
