We went to Cold Spring on Sunday, one of our favorite little towns near the Hudson River.
After lunch at our favorite place, Don usually takes L for a walk to the Hudson River, while I have half an hour to browse through some of the antique stores.
Two blocks away from the Hudson Hil’s restaurant is Pop’s barn sale.
I found it with my mom when she was visiting one day, and I checked it out again when I saw the sign.
Now, this is a garage sale! I bought a vintage Heidi book for just $1 that I’ll be adding to my Etsy store.
Message From the Past

I looked through a stack of old postcards and stopped when I saw this one. Hmm. Looks familiar.
I turned it around and held my breath: it’s from my hometown, Bremen! It’s the Park Hotel. I’ve taken L there on one of our visits.
What’s the likelihood I’d find a postcard of my hometown halfway around the world? I bought it for $1.
I also bought a 1894 recipe book and an account book for $6 that has pretty funny stories in it like this one about a “woman’s tonic.” I just can’t pass up little treasures like this because one day these little pieces of history won’t be around anymore.
After having some frozen yogurt, we got back into the car for the drive home.
