Healthy French Toast With Chia Seeds ingredients:
I started with sprouted, organic bread, but you can use any bread you prefer. I like how this kind of bread adds to the nutty flavor of French toast and how healthy and hearty it is.
Adding chia seeds is a simple way to add Omega-3 and to feel fuller faster because they absorb 10 times their weight in water.
And they add a fun, unexpected crunch to this French Toast. Surprise your kids with this!
If you want or have to avoid dairy, then any of the Silk milks are your friend — my favorite is Silk Almond Milk.
And because I love the flavor of almonds, I added just a little bit of almond extract.
Recipe for French toast with chia seeds:
- 3 eggs
- 3 or 4 slices of bread
- 3 tsp Silk Almond Milk
- 3 tsp of chia seeds
- 3 drops of almond extract
That’s all! If you want to cut down on cholesterol, you could add egg whites instead.
Simply mix all of the ingredients together, coat the bread slices with the mixture, and brown them in a little bit of sunflower or coconut oil.
Three slices of this bread is enough for two to three people because it is so filling.
