Fall Home Tour of Our Blue Cottage

I have been busy decorating our Blue Cottage for fall, and photographing it all for my Fall Home Tour.

If you’ve ever created a home tour, you know it’s a lot of work — the planning, the sourcing, the styling, the photographing, the photo editing, the writing — but I enjoy all of it.

Decorating my home and sharing it with you all is one of my favorite things I get to do through my blog.

This is what our cottage looks like now if you were to come visit, before it gets buried in fall leaves at the end of fall.

Fall Home Tour of Our Blue Cottage

The two hydrangea bushes that survived last winter grew a lot this summer, and I hope next summer the ones I added will catch up, and that they will all bloom so I can make more dried hydrangeas.

 

I decorated our porch with fake concrete pumpkins and heirloom pumpkins, and only a few orange accents, like the lanterns filled with orange fall decor.

 

I filled a large container with the pumpkins I made last year: the ones I draped with fabric, my toilet paper pumpkins — here is the easy tutorial — and my paper bag pumpkins.

 

I decorated the other side of the porch with our vintage trunk, which I’m now using as a bench, more green and white pumpkins, a little green table, and a crate.

 

 

That yellow barrel is actually an ice bucket.

 

I already blogged about how I made this fall wreath out of a spring wreath. Now come on in to see my indoor fall decor.

 

Last year I avoided orange and used a lot of blue and silver, and there isn’t much orange this year either.

 

 

 

I had decorated our mantel already and liked it, and then I found this plaid banner at Target – even better, right?

 

That garland of silver glass pumpkins is from HomeGoods, and they even light up.

 

This beautiful Silk Harvest Blush Hydrangea Bouquet in a rustic glass vase fits perfectly with my  cottage/farmhouse decor, and I love that it’s made with silk flowers I can enjoy for years instead of just a week.

 

Last year I created a coastal fall tablescape. This year, I kept the table setting really simple, with mostly metallic colors. The placemats were on sale at Target, and I also found the wooden leaves there.

The wood pumpkins and the napkin rings are new from HomeGoods.

 

I think this is my favorite vignette on the other side of our living room. My friend Kelly made this awesome pumpkin painting with vintage book pages, and here is the tutorial to make your own.

 

The living room is mostly decorated in muted colors, and it got a bit more colorful in the kitchen with this turquoise pumpkin and orange pumpkin placemat.
