I’m so excited to finally reveal a project I’ve worked on a couple of months ago!
We finished decorating Don’s office nook in our bedroom.
When we bought the Blue Cottage, I envisioned putting a comfortable chaise in that corner and a TV to have a spot to relax and lounge with a good book.
We had both of our office stuff in the downstairs office, but there were literally too many boxes in there to move. So we decided that the bedroom nook will be Don’s “office.”
And that’s just when Sauder Woodworking Co emailed that they would like to work with me again!
Remember the gorgeous tall shelf we have from them in the downstairs office? It’s perfect for many of my craft supplies and vintage items I’m selling on Etsy.
Sauder asked if I’d be interested in putting together a look with a furniture piece from them. Would I be up to the Put Together Design Challenge with many other interior design bloggers?
Yes, of course! I love nothing more than to style and personalize furniture pieces and vignettes. It’s so much fun!
Decorating Our Bedroom Office Nook
I choose one of their bestsellers, the Carson Forge Collection Writing Desk. Don and I put it together in a couple of hours.
Ta-da! The desk is finished on both sides and has a pencil drawer and a slide-out hinged laptop/keyboard shelf.
I barely remembered to take this picture of it without anything on it — I was itching so much to start styling and personalizing it.
This is the finished look — what do you think?
I paired the new desk with a vintage chair I’ve had for a while that never had a good home. I really like how that looks.
I had a lot of fun deciding on the accessories. The first thing I knew I wanted to buy is artwork with a quote in gold. They are all over Pinterest right now and look so pretty, and I’ve been wanting to add one to our house.
I was totally set on the idea of gold, and when I was shopping, the color turquoise kept coming up. So gold and turquoise was the theme!
I found a letter holder and trash can in turquoise and paired it with a turquoise candle holder I already had that became a pencil holder. The vintage sunburst clock is a thrift store find.
I had been collecting little gold frames for a while, and they came in handy now. I filled them with different vintage items, like old photos and a milk bottle cap, and added them to the wall.
The suitcase is vintage as well, and I added more vintage photographs to the new pin board. It all came together really easily once I decided on the theme.
Now Don has a nice space to call his own. Doing office work is a lot more fun in a pretty spot like this, don’t you agree?

[…] This is such a lovely country kitchen, with accents we also have in our kitchen: the open shelving, the vintage items on the wall, baskets, and we have a similar black chair Don is using in his office nook. […]
