What do you think is the most important thing you can teach your children?
I think there is nothing more important I can teach my son Landon than tenacity and being strong mentally.
If you believe in yourself, you have the tenacity to keep going, no matter what life throws at you, and that’s what I want for Landon.
My parents didn’t guide me much about what to pursue in life, but they had my back. They believed in me, and they would be there if I ever needed them.
Packing two suitcases and moving to America at age 23 was made much easier because I had the support of my parents, and Landon will always have our support, no matter what.
My friend Joel calls me Tenacious D, and that name about sums me up.
My tenacity has brought me far: I moved out of my childhood home in Germany straight to America, where I didn’t know anyone.
I just knew I was ready to spread my wings and try something new.
Looking back, I had zero fear that I might crash and burn, and that attitude — and a good dose of being naive and lucky — opened a world of possibilities to me.
I studied acting in Hollywood for a year like I had planned and then started college.
I ended up graduating from UCLA, got married, became a mother, and have been a successful entrepreneur now for the last 8 years.
None of this would have happened if I hadn’t been tenacious, and as a mother, I use my story as an example for Landon of what is possible when you believe in yourself.
If he can use that attitude once he leaves the nest — to not give up if he comes up against obstacles, to try again and fight for what he wants and dreams for his life — he will be able to handle anything life throws at him.
As a mother, I watch out for him and prevent little boo boos and missteps, but when he’s older, I hope I feel comfortable to let him go and pursue what he wants to do, like my parents did for me.
Strong moms raise strong kids. If you model strength to children, it builds up their self-image and teaches them how to make smart decisions.
You know who is another strong mom who raised a strong child? WWE superstar John Cena’s mom, Carol Cena.
Hefty® is celebrating strong moms who tackle strong messes on a daily basis.
John Cena is certainly someone who comes to mind when you hear the word strong :)
This year, Hefty® introduces Carol Cena in some fun commercials. She proves that mom knows best when it comes to ultra-strength and ultra-savings.
