I would never misplace the CD with all of our wedding pictures. No way, I’m too organized for that.
I finally found it yesterday.
Don and I got married almost five years ago in the fall of 2005 at Lyndhurst Castle in Tarrytown, NY, overlooking the beautiful Hudson River.
We were living in Los Angeles at the time, where we met, and I planned the whole wedding via phone/e-mail — without a wedding planner.
Since most of Don’s family lives in Westchester, NY, we wanted to get married there.
My parents, my brother, and my three best childhood girlfriends — my bridesmaids — flew in from Germany. The other 54 guest were all from Don’s side. We had a small wedding with just 60 of our favorite people, and it was perfect.
After attending a stunning beach wedding in Nantucket a couple weeks ago, I got in the mood to look at our wedding pictures and thought I’d share a few of my favorite:
I did my own nails and my girlfriend Karen did not do my hair.
My dashing prince with my father.
I was freezing! It was so wonderful to be walked down the aisle by my wonderful parents. We got married in the Rose Garden.
Clearly, I was hoping for some help from above to get through the vows without tears. I did not succeed.
We did not kiss before we were supposed to :) I love the priest’s expression — “Okay, then…”
We did it!
Did you notice the German Hummel figurine as cake topper? That and the German meat balls where the two German accents we added to our wedding.
I really wanted a wedding dress with lace all over but couldn’t find an affordable one, but I did find this pretty jacket that I put on after the ceremony. I loved how that looked. The whole look was something like $600, including shoes.
My parents dancing, my brother looking on — it was perfect.
Landon was born on our first wedding anniversary.
Six months later we packed up and moved to Westchester to raise Landon around Don’s large family, the Bleasdale Clan as I affectionately call them.
