First of all, Happy Easter!
We enjoyed bunny pancakes this morning, and Landon found a lot of eggs filled with chocolates in our yard.
L and I went on a fun road trip yesterday!
I felt like going away this spring break, so yesterday morning L and I got in the car and headed to one of our favorite places: Mystic Seaport, CT.
We visited it for the first time in May 2014, and I had been meaning to visit it again. It’s only a two-hour drive away from us.
I LOVE road trips. Can you tell that I was in a good mood?
Mystic Seaport Visit
I absolutely adore the Mystic Seaport. There is so much to learn in this re-created 19th-century seaside village.
It’s a history lesson in disguise, because you’re having such a blast. We saw many things we had totally missed the first time we visited.
They put us to work on the beautiful sailboats, and we learned that most lighthouse keepers were women.
L got to design and glue together his own little sailboat. He was thrilled to use a glue gun for the first time.
This was a presentation of a rescue — that’s a man zip-lining to safety.
I would have liked to stay many more hours, but L had his heart set on also visiting the Mystic Aquarium again. He was looking forward to the Titanic exhibit and he wanted to drive the little boats outside.
After paying the $70+ of admission, we were bummed to find out that they don’t have the Titanic exhibit anymore, and the little boats were still covered for winter.
We made the best of it and made friends with a cheeky beluga whale instead. We touched stingrays, saw a funny turtle, and many other interesting sea animals.
We finished up with what else: Mystic pizza!
L fell asleep the second we got back on the road and woke up when we pulled into our driveway.
Perfect end of a perfect day.
I hope you are enjoying your Easter break as much as we are!
