I’m a writer and love books, naturally. In this post I’ll tell you about 14 clever ways to display and store books!
I have so many books, and my Blue Cottage isn’t big, so I’m always looking for new ways to display or store them in a clever way.
I’m so desperate for more book storage ideas, I even started a whole Pinterest board about book storage.
I figured I might as well share my favorite ideas with you!
This is another posts in my “My Dream Home” series.
14 Clever Ways to Display & Store Books
1 Why not display books in your fireplace?
Just make sure you line the fireplace first with something so moisture and soot can’t ruin the books.

This is an interesting post, Dagmar. Some of the ideas I like. For example, the wooden spool book storage is nifty, except I don’t know where I’d put a wooden spool in my house! I like the kids’ shelves, too, except not as high. You would definitely invite climbing with my grandsons! And the desk for two is cute, too. But, the thing is, you have to have a certain amount of space to use some of these ideas. For instance, I don’t have a bare wall anywhere in my little house that I could line with book shelves. I guess I’d have to do a purge to take advantage of any of these suggestions, But it was a fun read, anyway, and who knows, at some point I might remember one of these ideas and realize I have the perfect situation for it. Probably after purging, though! Which needs to be done anyway!
Another thing I’ve been thinking about lately is letting go of some of my books. Now, believe me, that is painful for me to even think about. But I am trying to use my public library more and let go of the kind of books that I know I can find there. I have always loved books and I always will. And some of my books are the sort that bring back memories or were gifts, or that I just love the content of, but some, once read, I will never read them again. So why not donate them to a worthy cause and create a bit more spaciousness in my home? A “Novel” idea, yes? At least for me, it is!

Hi Naomi, I know all about having too many books! My husband buys and reads new books all the time, and we have way too many he wants to hold on to. I resell some of Landon’s books he has outgrown or give them to our library or thrift store. And I think I’ll get rid of all my cook books – I never use them anymore and find my recipes on Pinterest.

Love these! I think I am into the wall of books though I will need a built in ladder because I am short!

Right now, most of my books are stored in Rubbermaid containers. I have a Nook Tablet, and I absolutely love it. I can have any and all of my books with me at one time, and it takes up about two inches of space.
Have a great week!

You should really start doing some interior designing, obviously your interest/passion at the moment! Would be great if your next post is on some wardrobe ideas, my clothes n my hubby are squished into one small wardrobe cos that’s the only space available in our room. Just threw aways few thousand dollars of clothes that I don’t fit in cos there’s simply no wardrobe space :)
