St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, so here are 5 easy DIY St. Patrick’s Day ideas!
Welcome to Dagmar’s Home! Here are some fun ideas for St. Patty’s Day.
5 Last-Minute DIY St. Patrick’s Day Ideas
Leprechaun Grilled Cheese
I love this idea because it doesn’t involve green, toxic food coloring: just add broccoli to grilled cheese!
St. Patrick’s Day Bunting
This bunting is simple and so cute. This would be a fun project you can do with your kids this week. I’d use one of my many vintage books to make the flags, but any book or newspaper pages will work as well.

You can either cut the shamrocks out of green cardstock or make it super simple and buy shamrock stickers.
Irish Potato Soup
One word: yum. Doesn’t this Irish potato soup look so delicious?
I’d make sure to make this soup with organic potatoes since potatoes are on the Dirty Dozen list and loaded with pesticides if they are not grow organically.
St. Patrick’s Day Centerpiece with Split Peas
Now, how easy is this? What a great idea to use split peas with candles to create a centerpiece.
You don’t even have to buy these hurricane candle holders — just fill a bowl or glass with split peas and add a candle.
Food-Coloring Free Treats & Printable Goodie Bag Topper
I wanted to make St. Patrick’s Day goodie bags for our son and his classmates, but I couldn’t find one green treat that wasn’t full of unhealthy food coloring.
So I created this goodie bag topper — just download and print it for free — and filled the bags with healthy, green treats. Green and healthy, it’s a win-win.

Great ideas! I thought about doing the dried peas in my hurricane candle holders this year. It’s such a clever idea. But every time I went to the store I’d always forget to pick them up. Where did you find the green cheese puffs? We are a chemical free house. We avoid artificial colors too. I might try something green in the grilled cheese with my boys. Of course in our house the bread has to be gluten free.
Dagmar Bleasdale says
Hi Caryn, those are the green Pirate Booties. I wonder how the grilled cheese would taste if you add spinach, that would be good as well. Sounds like your home is very healthy, same here. How do you deal with going out or having your kids eat junk other parents bring in for their kid’s birthday party? That is the most challenging to me.
