I wish I was still breastfeeding.
I was in the best shape back then, running after a toddler and being able to eat what I wanted.
Those were the days.
And sadly, they are over.
I gained 10 pounds in the last three years and have been really fed up with it.
Here is the most annoying part: even though I eat super healthy, I feel like I gained the last five pounds just in the last two months!
I don’t weigh myself a lot, but I could tell from my clothes.
Pants don’t lie.
If only one pair of jeans fits anymore, it’s time to do something.
Instead of buying new pants, I started working out regularly, for the first time in years.
I used to love to go spinning, and now I get on the spinning bike while Landon is playing tennis at the fitness club once a week, and on another day I first watch him swim and then work out on the bike.
It’s become our thing to go to the gym together, and it’s super fun.
According to the bike stats, I’m burning an extra 600 calories twice a week, sometimes three times, and you’d think I’d see results — but I still didn’t.
I’ve gone on a juice cleanse and a raw food cleanse for 10 days last year, always with the same result: I hardly lose weight.
It was time to try something new, so I jumped on the opportunity to try out Jenny Craig. It’s not organic food, like I usually eat, but I was willing to give this a try to see if portion control is my problem.
Jenny Craig is now offering a 5-day weight loss starter kit exclusively at Walmart.
The starter kit includes:
- 20 food choices (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks),
- 1 free month of consultations for any Jenny Craig center in the US (or via telephone at JennyCraig.com)
- special $50 food credit when you sign up with Jenny Craig
When the kit arrived, I thought there’s no way that’s enough food for five days, but supplement it with other food, like non-fat milk, Greek yogurt, almonds, salad, and fruit.
It comes with a menu that tells you exactly what to eat for the day, which makes it super easy. If you have a hard time staying with the plan, or have questions, you can call your own dedicated consultant.
I’m a vegetarian, and many of the lunch and dinner options have meat in them. I heated up those dishes on the stove — I threw out our microwave two years ago — added a cup of black beans for protein, and ate around the meat. Easy enough.
The breakfast choices and snacks are really yummy — the S’mores bar is my favorite.
I’m on day 4 and have lost one pound. Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lose 1-2 pounds per week. It’s definitely enough food to eat, and I had no problem following the plan.
This starter kit is a good idea if you want to change your eating habits, lose a few pounds, or relearn what a healthy portion is.
You can simply find it at Walmart in participating stores, in the diet/weight loss aisle.
Here’s to fitting into our favorite jeans again.
