Fun Tablescape for Al Fresco Dining With Gloria Ferrer Wines

Tablescape for Al Fresco Dining With Gloria Ferrer Wines,

How often do you have family or friends over for al fresco dining? After working on our porch and landscaping, we recently bought an outdoor table, and I couldn’t wait to invite Don’s family over for dinner to try it out.

We are lucky that Don’s mom and three sisters and Landon’s many cousins live only 15 minutes away.

And we had another good reason to get together: we were going to sample Gloria Ferrer chardonnay and champagne. Yum!

My mother is a wonderful hostess and always decorates beautifully when she has guests over. She really knows how to throw a lovely party, and I also love putting together table settings.

Are you more of a mix and match table setter or do you prefer something streamlined and classic?

I do both, it all depends on the occasion, but for this informal family get-together I mixed and matched all kinds of items.

I wanted to use the Paula Scaletta plates I scored for just $1, and the nautical theme kind of went from there. I paired them with red placemats and pretty plastic utensil sets I bought on sale on my trip to Colonial Williamsburg. They are so nice that I will reuse them again and again.

Since I used the turquoise Target folding chairs I stocked up on last summer, I decided to use blue mason jars for water and lemonade glasses, and a vintage mason jar as a vase. And we drank the wine out of new glasses I bought at Ikea on my latest trip.

The Blanc De Blancs and Carneros Chardonnay arrived a couple of weeks ago, and I had been looking forward to trying them since then. It wasn’t easy to wait until we had guests over, let me tell you!

003aSocial, elegant, and fun — the sparkling wines of Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards are a perfect addition for any occasion.

012aI like really sweet drinks and added some lemonade to my sparkling wine to make a delicious summer-time drink.

The two bottles were almost gone while we ate cheese and crackers, before I even brought out dinner. I decided to offer comfort food: green salad, hearty organic bread, pasta with spinach and chicken for our guests, vegetarian burgers, potato salad, and more.

Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards was the fulfillment of a longtime family dream by the Ferrer family of Spain : to make world-class méthode champenoise sparkling wines.

Named for José Ferrer’s wife, Gloria, the winery opened in 1986 in the breezy, famous region in southernmost Sonoma County.

Gloria Ferrer wines have earned over 400 gold medals and 50 90+ scores in the last five years. Look at their gorgeous vineyard! Sonoma is definitely on my list of places I want to visit one day.
