Summer has finally arrived!

We somehow totally skipped spring here in New York — sadly, it was only about a week long — and the warm weather meant it was time to find our summer clothes.

Landon and I got to shop at OshKosh B’Gosh for new summer clothes. This boy loves orange, so we got him orange shorts, two cute muscle shirts, two swim trunks, and a sweater jacket for colder days.

I loved getting the opportunity to turn L into my little model and get some nice pictures of him – he doesn’t usually sit still long enough so I can get pictures with my professional camera.

He looks so grown up, doesn’t he? I can already see hints of a teenager.

Landon is only 8 1/2 years old but pretty tall for his age, and my absolute favorite feature of the OshKosh B’Gosh shorts is that they still have the adjustable elastic band on the inside, up to the size 12!

I’ve learned my lesson and always buy him clothes two sizes too big, and the elastic band lets me get several years of wear out of them.

  • OshKosh features fun colors, hand-drawn graphics, and timeless looks for boys and girls, size 0 -12.
  • This summer is all about endless mix & match styles for him and her as you can see, with pops of neon and stylish prints that make a playful statement. #HelloSummerFun!

Summer = pool! L is a total water rat and went swimming in his new swim trunks for the first time on Saturday. Grandma took him to the town pool while I was a vendor at a craft fair.

These patriotic swim trunks are adorable, and we got another pair in dark blue/turquoise.

I like the white piping on these swim trunks. All that neon orange is going to look especially great once L has a tan in the summer.

Here is a fun DIY party game I thought of that the whole family can enjoy all summer. If you have a pool, do it in the pool, or play it on grass.

I wanted to incorporate items we already had at home, and this is what I came up with:

DIY Party Game

Do you know that carnival game where you throw little balls into bowls to win a goldfish?

I had plastic cups, wiffle balls, ping pong balls, and plastic plant saucers, so I thought, why not put cups on plant saucer, float it in the pool, and have the kids or the whole family try to toss balls into them?

You could also use a light-weight plastic tray instead of the saucer.

  • Attach the cups to the plant charger (I doubled it up to make it a bit sturdier) with double-stick tape.
  • If you have all the same cups, mark one with a black rim and make that the one the players can win a prize for. I used one red cup and six green cups.

Here is what it looks like. We don’t have a pool, but you get the idea. Super easy to put together, and super fun!

Depending on the age of the kids, they can use the bigger or smaller balls, and you could have the young ones be closer to the game and older kids further away.

Make up the rules as you go and have fun with friends and family!
