We had Don’s mom and sister, brother-in-law and nephew over the other day for al fresco dinner for the first time this summer.

The one thing missing: a nice grill! We still haven’t bought one since moving into the Blue Cottage two years ago.

Since I’m a vegetarian, you might think I wouldn’t use a grill much, but you can obviously do more than cook meat on a grill: veggie burgers, vegetables, baked potatoes…

Kenmore Elite Grills

I would get a lot of use out of a nice outdoor grill, because it’s a lot easier to get my cooking done outside instead of having to do it inside and run back and forth. I literally missed half the party the other day, which was a shame.

Come to think of it, a nice grill would make a great Father’s Day gift for Don (and me.)

I just learned that there are Kenmore Elite Grills that you can bake bread in!

You can even have a refrigerator in the grill to keep all ingredients on-hand and make entertaining easier. Now, that would come in handy and make my life easier.

Kenmore grills are available at Sears, and they deliver trusted grilling performance for backyard chefs who want to turn their backyards into an outdoor kitchen and make the most of the warm summer days.

Their larger cooking surface and more burners provide plenty of room and the right amount of heat for every dish. Available features vary by model and include

  • side steamers
  • smoker and ovens for your specific grilling needs
  • interior lights and exterior LED control panels for night grilling
  • stainless grate to prevent rust
  • rotisserie attachments

Which one is your favorite feature, or which one do you think your husband would like best?

Does your husband turn into a proud outdoor chef during the summer, flipping (veggie) burgers? A new Kenmore Elite Grill makes the perfect gift for Dad.

I have my eye on the Kenmore Elite 550 Series 3 Burner in red. Three burners would be enough for our needs, but Kenmore offers grills with up to five burners.

And if you need ideas for grilling recipes, Kenmore even offers great grilling recipes like this one:

Grilled Potatoes with Feta

Prep time: 15 minutes, cook time: 15 minutes, serves 8

  • 2 1/4 pounds small, red-skinned new potatoes
  • 6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh flat leaf parsley leaves, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons fresh oregano or marjoram leaves, chopped
  • 3 ounces feta cheese, drained and crumbled
  • black pepper, freshly ground
  • (the original recipe includes olives and mint)

Pre-cook Potatoes: Preheat an oven to 400 degrees. Scrub the potatoes, cut them in half or in quarters (one-bite size) and place in a clay or metal baking dish. Do not crowd the pan. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Add 1/2 cup of water. Cover tightly with foil and bake until tender, 30 minutes. Cool slightly.

Grill Potatoes: Preheat your outdoor grill until hot. Brush the grill with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and toss the potatoes with 2 tablespoons olive oil. Grill, turning occasionally, until they have grill marks, 5-7 minutes. Remove from the grill and place in a large serving bowl.

Assemble Salad: Add the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil to the grilled potatoes, plus the lemon zest, parsley, and oregano. Mix well and then add the crumbled feta. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Toss gently and serve warm or at room temperature.

Right now you can get a Kenmore Elite grill for less!

If you’re thinking of purchasing a grill this summer, then check out the special offers now through July 4 at Kenmore.com/grills or your local Sears store.

What is the first thing you would prepare on your new outdoor grill?
