Pajama Jam Reading Party

How do you make reading fun? I have a little reluctant reader at home — but he’s certainly into forts and flashlights and spooky fun!

Scholastic and EVEREADY® want to help parents shine a light on reading.

Families in the NYC area, you are invited to visit the Scholastic Store in NYC for a fun Pajama Jam event on October 18, 2014.

If you can’t make it, don’t worry: just host your own event at home to celebrate reading with the downloadable Pajama Jam Reading Party Toolkit. It includes a DIY activity guide so you can host the most fun party — just for your family or for the whole block.

You can also find reading resources and a special promotion to enhance valuable family time together, including printable activities, book lists, tips for raising a reader, and a free Scholastic book offer.

We had a Pajama Jam Reading Party last night. I surprised L with a little fort I made, our EVEREADY flashlight, two new books about Colonial Williamsburg that I bought him during my visit there last weekend, and a snack — “book worm” chips, of course.

I bought several EVEREADY flashlights for emergencies a while ago and have them all over the house — one under each bed, one in the laundry closet, and another one in the big bathroom.

Can you tell from his smile that he liked his fort?

I love reading and really hope that L will enjoy it just as much eventually. If it takes a flashlight and making a fort to get him more interested, I’m making forts more often from now on.

Scholastic and EVEREADY® are teaming up to help parents shine a light on reading, even in the dark! EVEREADY®’s high quality batteries and flashlights are reliable and affordable and can be purchased at Dollar General or Target.
