3 ways to style a bookcase

Remember the eco-friendly Sauder bookcase I told you about a while ago? Sauder furniture is designed with functionality in mind, and I wanted to show you three additional ways I could use and style that bookcase.

It’s been wonderful to have the extra storage of the Barrista Lane tall bookcase in the office; we so need more of that here in the Blue Cottage.

This bookcase is pretty heavy, so it’s not that flexible that you would use it in different rooms once in a while, like a side table. But you can certainly style and use it in many different ways. Gosh, I wish I had one of these bookshelves in every room!

I already shared one way to use this bookcase in my first post — for office storage with lots of pictures and home decor items to make it look pretty:

Here are three additional ways:

1. Show Off Your Collection

This bookshelf is perfect to show off your collection. If you are a collector of just one specific thing, or of many things like me, your special items will look beautifully on this shelf with its eight compartments.

I decided to add just a fraction of my vintage teacup, dishes, milk glass and glassware collection.

If you are a food or DIY blogger or home stager who always has to have a lot of dishes or home decor on hand, this is the perfect way to keep track of them, especially with those added tags on every shelf compartment.

2. Storage for Your Office and DIY Supplies, and/or Store Inventory

I make candles and buy and sell vintage items, so I always have new items coming into the house and need to tag them. Some I need to hold on to because they are listed in my Etsy store, and most of them will end up in my store in Newburgh.

I’d love one of these bookcases just for my tagging and DIY project supplies and inventory. I’m constantly looking for the same stickers, tape, or price tags, and it would help so much to have everything displayed in plain sight like this on the shelves.

3. Book Storage and Display

Don and I own hundreds of books, and there just never seems enough space to display them. Ideally, I’ll like to have them all out in the open, instead of additional boxes of them in the attic. It would be lovely to have a whole wall of these bookcases to house them all.

Sauder makes many other multi-functional furniture pieces that cost a lot less than you think so you can add style to your home. If you are thrifty like me and want your home to look stylish, check out their site for other fun, affordable items.

How would you use this bookcase, and in which room?
