Our Pier 1 Imports Outdoor Oasis Party
We had our first outdoor party at the Blue Cottage!
It was a little less formal in the end than I had planned, but we all had a lovely time. It’s so fun to have family and friends over!
I spent two fun hours in there looking at everything and taking pictures. Pier 1 makes it easy to design an inviting outdoor oasis.
First, I had to decide on a color scheme. When I saw these turquoise melamine plates, I knew I wanted to build around that color. They are basically indestructible and perfect for outdoor entertaining, especially when kids are part of the party.
I paired them with orange cotton napkins and these adorable mason jars with straws. They are my favorite purchase — they even have a little chalkboard label on them.
I also bought cute umbrella straws I knew the kids would love, and flower-shaped paper plates and napkins for desert. Those items are so affordable and great to have in the house for short-notice entertaining.
When I got everything home from Pier 1, I couldn’t wait to decorate the porch with all these goodies and set everything up for a trial run.
I really wanted to use our porch, and then I was going to add a table in the front yard right under it for more seating.
On the day of the party, there was a last-minute change of plans and we had to eat earlier, so I had to set everything up really quickly and decided to just ordered pizza. The kids were just fine with that option, and the adults didn’t mind either. There were 9 of us.
A few days before the party I found these turquoise folding chairs that went perfectly with my turquoise and orange theme.
I loved having everyone over and was so busy chatting that I forgot to put out my salads.
We don’t do this enough, but now that we are more set up for outdoor parties (I bought 6 more chairs just yesterday), I’m already planning the next party — with salads. I certainly pinned enough party food and drink ideas and recipes.
