Wordless Wednesday Linky: Memorial Day Weekend

by Dagmar Bleasdale on May 27, 2014

boy looking at large spiderI hope you all had a lovely Memorial Day weekend! Time for this week’s Wordless Wednesday — which is never wordless here.

Our weekend couldn’t have been nicer: we had family in town from Australia and Pennsylvania for a large Bleasdale Clan get-together, the weather was beautiful, and we walked in the Memorial Day Parade.

I was cleaning up the porch on Saturday when I was about to grab Don’s golf bag and saw this huge spider. I’m glad it moved, otherwise I would have lifted it up right there and it would’ve surely bitten me.

huge spider It was so huge that I caught it in a plastic cup so I could show it to Landon when he came home with Don. He was pretty impressed — he was just acting afraid. Then we let it go, away from the house.

On Sunday, we had the big Bleasdale party, a clam bake at Don’s sister’s house. I only had salad, but everyone else was all over the sea food. L even tried a shrimp. Now I know he’s not allergic to it, which was a bit of a fear of mine.

After the party, a new-found cousin of Don and his wife and son from Pennsylvania stayed with us at the Blue Cottage.

It was fun to have guests for a night. On Sunday, they slept in while L and I took part in the Memorial Day Parade on Sunday, with his 4H group.

4H kids holding banner for Memorial Day ParadeI really like being part of a little town — you notice some faces in the crowd that are cheering, you know someone who is a volunteer firefighter… It all adds to a sense of community.

She said there are many places for that in Pennsylvania, and I can’t wait to make a trip there in the summer to stock up for my store.

Up to 50% off Dagmar’s Home Decor at the Newburgh Vintage Emporium!

The last time I went to the Emporium, I marked down a lot of my items to make space for all the new things I’m getting ready to drive up there.

I hope you can stop by if you are nearby. Since there are 45 vendors, you’ll definitely find something you can’t live without.

Have fun showing off your Wordless Wednesday post!

That is one H.U.G.E. spider! Our biggie bugs here are ticks and stingy-flying bugs. Yuck.

Not a pleasant looking creature.

That’s wonderful to have family come to visit from so far away. I’d like to go visit the Australian family.

Love that expression, even if he is just pretending. Glad you didn’t end up touching that and getting bit. I would have screamed, I am sure of it. Eeek!
