Now that we finally moved and are settled into the Blue Cottage, I’m so looking forward to spring. I have big plans for our yard, and I want to start my first little garden.

I’m intrigued by the idea of homesteading and being more self-sufficient — let’s see how it goes!

I have started to read a book about organic gardening and I think I want to go with container gardening and raised beds. The only way I will even bother to garden is if it is an organic garden, and I want to start from scratch the right way.

We only eat organic vegetables, so I’m obviously not going to waste my time growing anything that not organic. I want to use organic seeds, organic soil, and only all-natural fertilizers.

Miracle-Gro Organic Choice is going to help me create our organic garden. Organic Choice is an existing line of fully organic gardening products that are completely separate from Miracle-Gro. This line focuses on environmental benefits, green and sustainable living, and creating an edible garden.

I’m hoping to grow my own herbs in containers on or in front of our porch, and if I find that little critters or the deer around here keep eating everything, I’ll grow them indoors.

Or maybe Don will be nice enough to build me a greenhouses out of old windows. I have already pinned an image of what that looks like to my “garden” Pinterest board, and many other pins of different ways of composting, water barrels, how to fight pests, and how to build inexpensive raised beds.

I’m looking forward to learn more about creating an organic garden and to have L help me and make this an educational, fun time we both spend together.

It’s going to be so exciting to prepare the first meal with our own homegrown vegetables. Wish me luck!

If you have any gardening tips that helped to create an edible garden, let me know in a comment. Thanks!
