Philly Overnight Hotel Package Perfect Reason For a Visit

Winter is the perfect time to plan a cozy getaway to Philadelphia, whether on a weekend or during the week.

If we had time to visit Philadelphia right now, this would be my perfect 3 day, 2 night visit:

While it’s still cold outside, why not make the best of it! I’d definitely visit the open-air Blue Cross River Rink on Penn’s Landing.

You can go ice skating and take in the spectacular view of the city while gliding alongside the Delaware River at Philadelphia’s only outdoor, Olympic-sized public ice rink.

How fun does that sound! L is just learning how to ice skate and loves it, and this sounds like a wonderful place to experience as a family together.

Pretzels, anyone? My mouth waters when I see this picture. As a German expat, I’m a little proud to read this: introduced to the region by German (“Pennsylvania Dutch”) settlers in the 18th century, pretzels quickly became a favorite local snack.

Now there’s the famous Philly soft pretzel, purchased from street vendors or from bakery storefronts such as the Philly Soft Pretzel Factory. So of course I’d have to try at least one, maybe two pretzels during my visit.

As someone who loves everything vintage, I’d want to spend hours strolling through Philadelphia’s historic Pine Street Antique Row. The smartest thing would be to drop off Don and L at a place they’d have fun so I really can enjoy shopping for a while.

Looks like this would be the perfect spot for Landon: the Please Touch Museum®, the nation’s premier children’s museum that encourages learning through play, which featured this beautiful carousel.

And as a coffeehouse lover, I’d love to visit Elixr Coffee. It features reclaimed wood and marble counter tops — just my kind of place. And I’m sure we’d find a yummy sweet treat for Don and L on the menu.

What would you want to do in Philadelphia? Gosh, there is just so much to see and do.
