Giveaway: Win a Lutron Occupancy Sensor Light Switch

Lutron Occupancy Sensor Switch review and installation video

{I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Lutron. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.}

Now that we have lived with the Lutron Maestro Occupancy Sensor switch for L’s closet for a month, Lutron wanted to know if I find myself saying, “Who left the lights on?” less frequently.

Absolutely — I don’t have to say it at all anymore! At least in his room — I wish we had these switches in every room.

The Lutron Occupancy Sensor Switch takes care of the problem of wasting energy. Now that the switch is installed, we switch the light on when we enter the closet, and if we forget to turn it off, the light turns itself off once it can feel that no one is in the room anymore. One less thing to worry about.

L likes the sensor switch because I have to remind him less about turning off lights behind him when he comes downstairs, and I love it for the same reason.

The one adjustment I made was program the light to stay on for 5 minutes instead of just one minute — apparently I spent more time in his closet than I thought and it would shut off before I’m done in there.

You won’t have this problem if the light switch is actually in the closet, but ours is on the outside of the closet.

That’s really the ideal situation for these sensor switches, that you walk into a room and the light turns on and then turns off when you leave the room.

Lutron switches are especially perfect for garages, entryways, and laundry room — rooms where you often have your hands full when you walk in or out. I installed the second switch we received in our pantry, and it’s so convenient to have it in there.
