5 Pinterest Inspirations for Our Blue Cottage Living Room

Dagmar's Home: Pinterest inspirations for our blue cottage living room

We just came back from five days in Cape May, and the Blue Cottage is not any closer to being ready for its closeup.

I was hoping to get more rearranging and decorating done today, but Don had a tooth extracted plus a root canal and is out of commission, so we didn’t get much done today.

We still don’t have a mailbox at the end of the street, if you want to know the truth.

I can’t share pretty pictures of our Blue Cottage yet, but I can share pretty Pinterest pictures that inspire my interior design ideas for our living room.

These are 5 interior design ideas I want to combine in our living room:

Dark Wood Floors

We already have these. Don and I Installed them with the help of many other hands – check.

White, Shabby Chic Coffee Table

I bought one at a yard sale for $35 a few months ago and it has an extra shelf close to the floor for storage. I picked up this shallow basket in Cape May for free that will look great under it with magazines.

We need two coffee tables because our living room is a rectangle and has two sitting areas: one in front of the TV, near the office, and the other end has seating in front of the fireplace.

I have a trunk already: I saw this vintage trunk in the window of my favorite thrift store a year ago — for $5! You bet ya I was the first one in the door the next day.

Field Stone Fireplace

Check. Our field stone fireplace is the only thing that is left from the original little house that is now the Blue Cottage; everything else was torn down.

It’s beautiful, but it’s taking all my willpower to not white-wash it. I keep thinking about it, but everyone else who has seen it thinks I’m crazy.

Trellis Rug

And this is where the cottage/farm house/shabby chic decor leaves us: I’m kind of obsessed with the trellis patterns that are so in right now.

I’d love to find a rug with the perfect pattern that doesn’t hurt your eyes but infuses a bit of contemporary charm into our home filled with vintage and antique and compfy decor. Maybe a light gray one. Or a totally bold color that will stand out. We’ll see.

Do you have any of these 5 decor elements in your living room?

Hi! I have dark wood floors original to my house which was built in 1956…we refinished them when we moved in 11 years ago! They are (knock wood!) in perfect condition! Narrow wood planks, though! I LOVDE wood floors…we have NO carpet! Much luck to you!
