Wordless Wednesday With Linky: Our Germany Visit

by Dagmar Bleasdale on July 2, 2013

strawberries you pick yourself taste so much better!

I haven’t blogged in days because I’m so busy here in Germany that I hardly have time to get to my computer. I guess that’s how vacations should be :)

Today my mom, Landon, and I visited a kids farm that offered a free clay modeling class. I’d never been to this farm and it was fantastic.

There were all kinds of animals and a playground, and the kids could watch the farmer drive his tractor. Chickens and goats were running around freely among the kids and adults. While L made this clay tiger…

…my mom and I sat outside with a cup of coffee. You are free to take some and simply donate whatever you feel like. The same goes for the tag sale items that were offered in those green boxes — just donate what you feel is fair.

I’m going to set aside some items that I don’t need anymore so that my mom can donate them to the farm soon.

In the afternoon we saw my girlfriend Ariane and her two boys — we all went strawberries picking and the boys drove around on Kettcars.

It was L’s first time to pick strawberries and a great lesson what goes into picking the strawberries we so simply can buy at the store.

You’re allowed to eat as many strawberries as you want while picking, and I must have eaten a pound.

Back at Ariane’s house, she quickly made a no-bake strawberry cake with pudding, which we enjoyed in her backyard.

I enjoyed the milk coffee and checked out a few German interior design magazines. Ariane also told me about a pretty German blog, House of Ideas, which definitively looks like my kind of blog. And the blogger’s name is Dagi, ha!

The boys ran around some more in the backyard, and after an ice cream under the watchful eyes of Anton, their huge dog (pony), we drove back to my mom’s house.

And that was only half the day. If you’d like to see more pictures of our trip, follow me on Instagram.

What have you been up to? How is the summer treating you?

It looks like the kids are keeping busy and having a good time. Sometimes on vacation ours would get bored at times. When I was 14 I had a summer job picking strawberries – I got 14 cents per quart. There is nothing like a strawberry just picked.

Germany is definitely on my to-be-traveled list! I haven’t been strawberry picking ever so that’s something to add to our bucketlist. HAVE FUN!!

You are completely right that computer time should be scarce while we’re on vacation!! Glad your family is having a holiday now and it sounds very relaxing/fun.

Glad you’re having a wonderful time! Those strawberries look yum. We just went berry picking here, too. Nothing like strawberries fresh from picking!

Looks like you’re having a fabulous time! The fact that you’ve hardly had time on your computer is a wonderful sign. :)
