Introducing Dagmar’s Home and My New Blog Design

by Dagmar Bleasdale on January 14, 2013 Dagmar's Home logo

Four years ago, I wrote my first blog post. As you can tell from that post, I had big aspirations from the beginning and knew blogging was going to be in my life for a while, but it’s pretty amazing to think that I’ve now written my blog for four years, and a total of 913 posts.

As you might have noticed, I finally, finally updated my blog design! Welcome to Dagmar’s Home!

After having a disappointing experience with my first blog designer who basically disappeared into thin air after a few months, I have been working on the redesign with Kent from SIC Web Design, who has saved the day so many times before, every time my blog blows up after I tinker with a plugin or a code.

I can’t thank him enough for indulging my many request to make the new logo and design just right. And I already want to thank him in advance for helping me the next time I mess up my blog. It’s just a matter if time, because I do 99% of the background work on my blog myself.

The biggest change is not the pretty new header or the nifty widget I wanted to declutter the sidebar — it’s the change of my blog’s name.

Dagmar’s momsense is now called Dagmar’s Home.

I started writing this blog when L was little, just 2 1/2 years old, and I mostly wrote  about my experience of being a stay-at-home mom who breastfeed her son and practiced gentle, attachment parenting, and about green and frugal living.

The name Dagmar’s momsense doesn’t fit my blog anymore, because it has evolved from a “mommy blog” to a lifestyle blog that now also includes regular posts about home decorating, organizing, thrifting adventures, and DIY projects.

It has changed with me, from a mommy of a little boy to a mom with an independent 6-year-old who is in first grade, and this Mama now has more time for what she loves — home decorating on a dime, Pinterest-inspired “My Dream Home” posts Dagmar's Home logoDagmar’s Home is the perfect name because this, my blog, is my home. I’m inviting you into my life and my home every time you read my blog.

Dagmar’s Home is a reflection of me, of everything I’m passionate about and want to share with you: the journey of parenting, the importance of organic food and sustainable living, home decorating, fun vintage finds, thrift store triumphs, my handmade candles…

It’s no coincidence that I called my Etsy store “Dagmar’s Home Decor” — it’s an extension of my blog. I’m hoping it will become a lucrative side business and I intend to expand it by selling more handmade things. Maybe I can even get Don on board — he’s a finish carpenter with mad skills after all.

I hope you continue to enjoy my blog for years to come — because I have no intentions to stop blogging any time soon.

I have spend thousands of unpaid hours and long nights blogging, gained 10 pounds from sitting on my butt all the time — but I have established my blog as a lifestyle blog now, which seems the right fit considering my many interests.

My readership keeps growing every month, and I’m finally making a decent living with blogging and social media consulting. I’m thrilled to be the new DIY blogger for and really blessed to have a job I love. And I enjoy the community I have found through blogging, Twitter, and Instagram and can’t imagine my life without it by now.

More big things are in store for us in 2013, and I can’t wait to share them all with you. Thank you for your friendship and continued interest in my little piece of the world. Welcome to Dagmar’s Home.

What do you think of the new blog design? Do you like the logo?

So funny, I went onto your website, and I thought, “Wow, there’s a change here!”, then I read your post…and its confirmed. It looks great, on-brand and on-target as to who you are now.

I, too, am in the final stages of my blog re-design, so I know how wonderful and painful the process could be! Hopefully it will be up before end of the month! Hopefully you can check it out! Congratulations again!!!

Thanks for letting me know you like the new look, Jen! If you need help, don’t be afraid to email Kent for help. He’s great. You could tell him your budget and go from there.
