Remember what it was like to wear braces? I do.
This is me when I was 11 years old. Those front teeth needed to be corralled into place. I had braces for years and years because they were the removable ones you’d take out to eat — and I lost them many times.
I remember several visits to Ikea with my parents and realizing too late that I had put my braces that were wrapped into a napkin on the conveyor belt with my tray after the meal. Same thing with my brother, who had the same braces.
It became a running joke — no matter how hard we tried to remember, one of us would forget them and that tray with our braces would disappear into the kitchen. My mom was a good sport to have to ask the staff if we could look through their trash cans, again. I remember laughing so hard trying to find them.
I guess it could have been worse — I could have had the grill of metal in my mouth with glued-on braces. But I wish I had known about Invisalign back then. I would have begged my parents for them.
It wasn’t cool to run around with braces in your mouth as a tween and teenager, and straightening my teeth with Invisalign would’ve saved me months, maybe even a year of wearing braces because I would have worn them more regularly. Here are more advantages of Invisalign compared to braces.
I’ve actually been thinking about using them now as an adult to straighten my teeth some more. Invisible teeth straightening? I’m in.
