“Space Dogs” is Our Favorite Family Movie This Summer

by Dagmar Bleasdale on August 20, 2012

We rented one of the movies on the Redbox Summer Family Fun list, Space Dogs, and I honestly didn’t expect much because most family movies are either more for the kids or more for the adults — but this movie truly is for both.

Landon and I cuddled up on the sofa and went along for the ride.

This is the storyline: Circus dog Belka and stray dog Strelka embark on an out-of-this-world adventure to become the world’s most famous canine cosmonauts. This tale is actually based on the true story of Belka and Strelka, two dogs sent to space in 1960!

From the first minute on, Landon and I couldn’t stop laughing!

That mouse with his hunt for cheese and his tooth that keeps falling out is just hilarious, and the story of the two dogs is funny as well as touching.

Which kid doesn’t like dog or adventure stories? And it really is amazing what they can do nowadays with animation.

Space Dogs is a movie we will revisit for year, one of those classics you can be sure everyone will enjoy, no matter the age.
