My Dream Home: 10 Ideas for Decorating With Neon Colors

ideas to decorate with neon colors

I have to be honest, when I found out that the fashion gods decided that neon was going to be this year’s trend, I cringed — big time.

I’m not a fan neon colors. I didn’t like that trend when it was around when I was a teenager. Wearing neon? Neon finger nails? Not in a million years.

But then I got curious — could I embrace decorating my home with neon accents? They are kind of fun.

So I scoured Pinterest for examples of neon accents I would like. And surprise, surprise, I found a lot!

10 Ideas for Decorating With Neon Colors

Seeing a classically shaped metal chair in a surprising color, and having it be the only item in a neon color, works for me. Cute, right?

I’m not sure I’d want to commit to painting a door in our house this jarring neon green, but it certainly makes a statement.

This is a genius idea: I assume this “table” is just a wall decal that can be removed when you get sick of it. Or you could just paint something less intricate on the wall and paint over it again when neon isn’t the rage anymore or you want a different look.

BTW, I love that chandelier decal. But since I found my perfect chandelier a while ago, I’m not sure that both would work together.

This is a cool way to incorporate surprising neon accents into a rustic country kitchen — buy a few neon pink chairs for a pop of color and matching kitchen items to creative a cohesive look.

Same with these neon chairs: they work with all of these eclectic, vintage items.

Why not brighten up a kid’s room with neon colors? Painting the casters of this toy box in a neon color is a sweet idea (note that the wheels might not turn anymore after you paint them).

These I’m in love with and might just have to buy right away: neon-colored urchin felt bowls.

Anyone can pull this off: DIY wood hangers that were spray painted with several neon colors. See the link for the tutorial. I bet they’d make you smile when you’re getting dress.

Want a pop of color in your outdoor space? A neon-colored pillow is a small commitment, and if you are handy, you could even make it yourself.

I also found this idea intriguing: a few small furniture pieces spray painted in different neon colors, in harmony with a vintage wooden bench. And why not spray paint the wires of the lighting fixtures while you’re at it?

Do you like neon colors? Would you rather wear them or decorate with them?

I like the inspiration pictures you’ve chosen. A whole room of neon is not my style at all but little pops here and there like you’ve picked would totally work!
