Smitty movie review

Summer means outdoor playtime, lazy days at the beach, and backyard barbecue.

But what do you do when rainy days roll around?

Our summer here in Westchester has been full of very hot days and days with tons of rain, so we have actually had to stay indoors quite a bit.

Just in time, Phase 4 Films released eight new family-friendly films that are sure to keep your kids entertained, rain or shine!

All films are easily accessible to rent at Redbox locations and for purchase at retailers nationwide starting this summer.

One movie you definitely don’t want to miss is “Smitty.”

Starring Peter Fonda, Mira Sorvino and Louis Gossett Jr., this heartwarming movie tells the story of thirteen-year-old Ben who is sent to spent the summer at his grandfather’s farm.

A bratty kid from the city, he learns a lot that summer. A smart farm dog helps teach Ben important life lessons about friendship, family and responsibility. It is rated PG.

Landon like “Smitty” so much, he watched it twice so far. This is one of those movies you can enjoy with your kids, which is really rare, I find.

The cast is amazing, and the story compelling. And it’s also really funny and adorable — at one point the dog drives a tractor.

{I received the movie to facilitates this review but no other compensation. Opinions are my own.}
