I’m tired. It’s so hot here in Westchester, and has been for a few weeks now, I think it’s sucking the energy out of me.
Or maybe it could be that not getting enough sleep is finally catching up to me.
After I took L to his swim class and then summer camp, I came back home and worked a little bit, finally made that call to Verizon (I’m using my iPhone a lot more and needed to be sure my data plan covers my tweeting and instagramming and listening to Pandora), and now it’s almost time to pick up L again.
I’m picking him up early to rescue him from roasting in the heat out there. I want to take him to Target to get something expensive I’ve had my eye on for a while, and I’m really hoping they are not all out of it.
I’ll tell you what it is if I can get it.
A few other things that have been on my mind: it was my dear Papa’s birthday last week — he would have turned 86.
The day after that we had to go to a funeral for my brother-in-law’s mom, and that was hard. I spoke to my mom in Germany and she said so many people called her to say they were thinking of my dad and wanted to hear how she is doing. That’s helpful to hear since I’m so far away, but thankfully my brother is visiting my mom right now for two weeks. I can’t wait for her to visit us again.
Last week was a great week for bargains: at Staples for 1 cent school supplies, at Target for trash bags and non-toxic sunscreen (we are set for a year), and I found a vintage travel trunk at a thrift store for only $5. Score!
I had seen it in the window and had to make sure to be the first one in the store on Tuesday, but it was well worth the trip. I cleaned it up a bit and am eventually going to use it as another coffee table.
Oh, and we survived another dentist appointment for L. Dr. C is very happy with L’s teeth and we are waiting for the first ones to fall out.
I can’t wait for the troublemakers, the four top ones, to fly away with the tooth fairy.
And as we do after every dentist visit, we get have ice cream on Dr. C’s dime. We have the best dentist in the world.
What have you been up to? How is life treating you. I want to know :)
