What’s Your “Do-Over Moment”?

by Dagmar Bleasdale on June 22, 2012

If you had a chance do it over again, what would you do differently?

My do-over moment has to do with diapers. The one thing I really regret is not using cloth diapers for Landon as a first-time mom.

If I had known how many chemicals babies are exposed to all day and night wearing conventional diapers, I would have never used them. And I would have made a point to get L out of diapers a lot faster.

On average, babies use about 6,000 diapers by the time they’re 2 1/2!

I did try cloth diapers. Don was actually adamant about using them and not adding to the million of diapers that will take hundreds of years to break down in the landfills.

I bought the G Diaper, which can be used with disposable or washable liners, but they leaked and I gave up. Back then there weren’t as many different cloth diaper manufacturers around, at least I wasn’t aware of them, but now there are so many adorable ones available, even for newborns.

I have been given many different types of cloth diaper samples at blogging events, and they are so much cuter than conventional diapers! I wish I had tried out others besides the G Diaper to find the brand I like the most.

Here is the best resource for that: Kim’s blog Dirty Diaper Laundry is THE resource if you have questions about cloth diapers, even with a handy Diaper Finder.

I hope you will not make my mistake and check out cloth diapers. Once you get the hang of it, they are easy to use, and what I especially like is that once you have a stash of cloth diapers, you’ll never again run out of diapers and have to make that mad dash to the store in the middle of the night!

Using cloth diapers is such a win/win for everyone involved — parents, baby, and the environment:

  • cloth diapering saves you a lot of money
  • saves precious resources
  • avoids toxins released into the environment from conventional diapers
  • baby doesn’t get diaper rash or exposed to toxins

So that would be my do-over: I’d definitely us cloth diapers. But back to Frigidaire :)

The Frigidaire Gallery™Dishwasher gets dishes fully cleaned the first time, so there are no dish do-overs. Nearly half of adults admit to re-washing and/or re-drying dishes after the dishwasher cycle has been completed. To prevent dishwasher do-overs, Frigidaire® is stepping in with its new Gallery® Dishwasher featuring the OrbitCleanTM Wash Arm, ensuring dishes are cleaned right the first time.

Could you use one of these dishwashers? I could!

My son was born before our “Healthy” transformation so my biggest regret is not doing fresh, organic baby foods that I could have made myself. That being said, I now now that he is still young and how super healthy eating has made a HUGE difference with him immune system and has put him on the road to a healthy living lifestyle. At 6 he is already making great choices and I’m so proud that he wants to be the healthiest kid on the block!
