My Year in Phone Pictures, Before Instagram

by Dagmar Bleasdale on June 2, 2012

It’s a rainy day, so Landon isn’t going to soccer and instead just left to have some fun with Don. I’m sitting here eating cereal with heavy whipping cream because we ran out of skim milk. It’s one of those days.

What to blog about? I should blog about seeing Ricki Lake and her inspiring More Business of Being Born or chatting about eco-friendly table decorations with Shawn Rabideau, event planner from the TV show Bethenny’s Getting Married.

I will, eventually. For now, I feel like sharing some picture.

I needed a new phone that works and finally bought an iPhone. I could only talk and tweet on my last one. That’s not efficient for someone who gets 100+ emails a day.

I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to download the 600+ photos from my old phone to my computer. I don’t expect much from cell phones; they usually quit working on me.

Those picture kind of tell a story about my last year. Here it is:

I used to blog in coffee house when L was in preschool. Now I get him on the school bus and go back home to work. Or back to bed.

Aw, driving L home after his tonsillectomy. He was such a little trooper.

Nanny Caddy at the Bronx Zoo. Why not Mommy Caddy?

After hearing David Mathison, writer of the game-changing Be The Media, speak about the potential of Google+, I changed my mind and opened a Google+ account. It’s the future.

If you want to make a living with what you love, run and get his book!

L learning to count — with butter pads at a restaurant :)

I remember this day well. L and I had gone into a shop and when we walked out, the biggest snow storm had started. It was so treacherous on the streets, we barely made it down the hill and home.

Waiting for the train to go to the 77Kids blogging event in New York City.

The view coming back from Disney World on the ferry:

The biggest walrus I’ve ever seen at a show in SeaWorld. You know those TV shows where they show you a pound of fat so that you are motivated to keep losing weight? Imagine that time 400. That walrus could hardly walk and was jiggling all over the place. It was actually kind of gross.

My camera ran out of power right before we were going to touch the dolphins, the highlight of our Orlando trip. I just had to have that on camera, so I found an outlet for my charger and sat next to it for half an hour while Don and L looked at the sharks.

Yes, I missed the shark at SeaWorld. And wore L’s sun hat.

The last picture before we left SeaWorld. I guess L is tickling Shamu?

Another trip to the city.

I found this license plate in a NYC souvenir shop. There still aren’t that many products out there with Landon’s name on it, so of course I bought it for him. It hangs on his door now.

Landon and the Easter Bunny made the local paper:

Waiting his turn at the dentist:

Waiting again, for takeout:

Thrifty shopping at the Christmas Tree Stores:

Sign in a coffee house:

Someone loves chocolate ice cream, like his Nani:

L really wanted a tiger, and so she painted one on his arm at the Lyndhurst Castle craft show.

Kale salad at Liberty restaurant in Rhinebeck. So good!

That’s it, my last year in pictures I took with my old phone. I’m getting the hang of Instagram and planning to use those pictures on my blog soon.

Have a great weekend and take a lot of pictures!

This is a great post. I also just got an iPhone, and I’m still trying to get used to it. I never thought about blogging about my pictures that I took the last year. I might just have to be a copy cat. Oh, and I LOVE instagram. Your little boy is a cutie ;)

Love your “slice of life” set of pictures – thanks for sharing. My 16 year old daughter used Instagram to edit her pictures of the roses climbing over an arbor in our backyard. I used my phone camera for the same shot and she offered to show me how to Intstagram. Thank goodness for my teenager!
