Kiwi Crate Delivers Fun Summer Activities For Your Kids

by Dagmar Bleasdale on June 28, 2012

The kids are out of school. Are you looking for fun, educational activities to do with them or to keep them busy for a little while? Get your kids to craft and learn with Kiwi Crate!

We love to do crafts and be creative, and so I was trilled to try out Kiwi Crate. Kiwi Crate is the first-ever kid-friendly craft box that gets delivered to your doorstep monthly, sparking creativity and curiosity for kids ages 3-7.

Will the crate be dinosaur, space, or safari themed? The surprise is all part of the fun.

I don’t know who was more excited when our Kiwi Crate arrived. We received one with a gardening theme, which was perfect since Landon just finished his 4-H group meetings until they resume in the fall.

Designed by a team of parents, each box contains 2-3 crafty activities that focus on science, art, imaginative play, or child development.  Guaranteed to keep kids busy, this is just what you need this summer for those afternoons at home.

Kiwi Crates include easy-to-understand instructions full of cute illustrations. Landon and I first made the window planter in which  our beans and squash will be growing.

It actually hangs in the window with suction cups, and since it’s see-through, we will be able to see the seedlings grow, which is so cool. And L can keep track of what they look like by drawing their progress after week 1, 2, 3, and 4 in a little journal that was included.

Landon was really into going from step to step, and there were just enough for him to not get overwhelmed.

Then we moved on to the second activity — decorating little paper flower pots with clay, and putting together and coloring a paper flower and a tomato plant.

I had such a nice time sitting together with L making all these things, and it turned out to be a fantastic learning experience: the crate only included yellow, red, and blue clay, but I showed L which color you have to combine to make purple, green, and orange.

I know he learned a little bit about mixing colors in kindergarten, but actually seeing the colors change when we were mixing them made a big impact on L.

Aren’t these cute? I can’t wait to see the little plants sprout in our window planter. Maybe we will actually have home-grown beans and squash?

Surprise your kids with a Kiwi Crate! They are offering Dagmar’s momsense readers 25% off their first Kiwi Crate (regular price $19.95, always free shipping), for a limited time only — use promotion code CLEVER25.
