Wordless Wednesday – Fall Fun in Westchester

by Dagmar Bleasdale on October 11, 2011

We rode the train to Cold Spring — a quaint and charming town in Westchester in the shadow of famous West Point — on Saturday to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather.

After brunch at one of my favorite places, the Hudson Hil’s restaurant, we walked around for an hour and then hopped back on the train.

If I had had more time, I would have ended up with a furniture piece or something else to lug home from one of the cute antique stores that line the Main Street, but I didn’t have enough time for shenanigans.

Don wanted to go for a jog with his sister and I took L to a storytime at the new Little Joe’s Books store in Katonah. Borders in Mount Kisco closed, but we now have this kid’s bookstore in NoKaJoe’s that reminds me a lot of Meg Ryan’s store in You’ve Got Mail. So cute.

Just by coincidence, I had just mentioned taking the train to Cold Spring with your kids as a fun outing in my new column for the Examiner: Inexpensive Fall Fun For the Whole Family.

That is so fun! I bet that bookstore was too cute. I love riding the train here to the Texas State Fair. SOOO much easier than driving to downtown Dallas and parking. And the kids love it too. :-)

What a handsome little man. That sounds like a very enjoyable way to spend an autumn day. We just did the same thing on Monday (taking the train) going up to Wisconsin to check out some Indian Burial Mounds.

That does look like so much fun! I would have been hard pressed not to lug something antique-ish home, too. ;)

Love these pics! You know, Landon is always dressed so well. I just love it. :) Sounds like it was a great day!

Sorry I’ve been so absent lately. I’ve had so much going on. I’m hoping that we get to chat sometime soon. At the very least, I’ll get an email to you before the end of the week. Miss chatting with you, friend. Hope all’s well. :)

‘Timan’ loooooves trains, unfortunately we don’t have real ones here on the island, but he’s ok with the ones he can play.
