It’s never boring to take a drive with Mama on a Saturday. One might come home with a humongous pinboard over one’s head.
This morning, Landon and I went to the Multiples Tag Sale in Yorktown. These moms have everything twice, or even three times, and have a lot of stuff to get rid of.
Since I already bought all the clothes L needs for the next year, I only wanted to see what they have for when he is 6 and 7. I just wanted to take a peak. And since his birthday is just around the corner, I was hoping I might also find a few new toys.
After that we went to Staples and bought 10 boxes with my Staples rewards money, got some food/hot chocolate/coffee at Dunkin Donuts (with coupons, of course), and on our way to the next errand, I saw a sign for a tag sale at the high school.
Am I glad I made a right!
Would you have bought all this for $33 at a tag sale?
I was lucky that the huge pinboard fit in my car. But I wasn’t going to leave it there — it cost only 50 cents! This is going to be great in L’s rooms for displaying all of his recent kindergarten masterpieces.
I’ve got Pinterest for my inspiration, and L can now go crazy and pin what he wants to his inspiration board.
My wonderful girlfriend Heather, the one who surprised me with these, is starting a flower business, so when I saw many vases at the tag sale, I just had to buy them for her.
I was stunned when I found out that backpacks can be $40 when I went shopping for L’s kindergarten supplies, and so I grabbed this one to be ready for when his Scooby Doo one we bought at Once Upon a Child isn’t cool anymore.
Landon’s favorite find: the electric guitar for 50 cents that makes all kinds of crazy noise. Those games are for my nieces and nephews, and the candy corn craft supplies came in handy after the sale (see below).
To get rid of plastic containers in our home, I now store cereal, Xylitol, Xylitol lollipops, nuts, and cookies in glass jars, so these three Ball jars will come in handy.
I love the look of glass jars filled with thing — they look vintage and kind of make me happy every time I open the cupboards.
Why did I buy six little teacups with saucers? I’ve been wanting to make my own teacup candles for gifts, and these will be perfect for that project. Hello handmade Christmas gifts!
And I just couldn’t pass up a sign that says “Beware of Attack Hamster.”
I want to eventually paint the chairs shabby-chic white to get closer to my idea of a dream kitchen. I blogged about my shabby chic dream kitchen a few months ago.
Got nothing to do on the weekend and like to find inexpensive toys, fun home decor, or cool furniture pieces? Then load the kids in the car and look for garage sale signs!
Do you have a favorite item you picked up at a garage sale?
