World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) 2011

by Dagmar Bleasdale on August 3, 2011

It’s World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) 2011 (1-7 August 2011)!

I like how they put this:

“Each of us plays a variety of roles and has the most powerful tool needed – a voice to talk to others about why breastfeeding matters, not only for health and well-being, but also for the environment, for women’s rights, and for social advancement.

Let’s enhance the perception and knowledge about breastfeeding, and bring the dialogue to life, making this year’s World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) celebration a true 3D experience: an opportunity for outreach, an investment in a healthy future, and ultimately, a unifying lens through which to see the world.”

That’s exactly what I try to do with my blog — inform, educate, and start a dialogue about breastfeeding and other subjects.

If you’ve never looked at it, check out all the resources on my Breastfeeding page.

Dagmar – thanks so much for blogging about this important issue! I wanted to add there is alot of science to support that breastfeeding mitigates postpartum depression and allows a new mom to sleep more. You can find Dr. Kathleen Kendall-Tackett’s research articles at
She has many of her articles posted there as informational ..
I might say she might be open to a guest blog…she is a lactation consultant & psychologist & researcher
