Wordless Wednesday — Boy on Big Yellow Bus

by Dagmar Bleasdale on June 8, 2011

Landon got to try out the school bus last week!

All the kids who will start kindergarten in September here were invited to a trial run on the big yellow school bus!

L has been talking about wanting to be on the school bus for a year. He will be young entering kindergarten, since his birthday is at the end of October, but he’s ready! I’m not. LOL

We dropped off the kids at the library just down the street from the school, they were driven up to the school, read a story, had a snack and got a book, and back they came to us parents after 1,5 hours. Meanwhile, we were briefed about the bus route, etc.

L had a wonderful time. I was so excited for him, and so proud that he didn’t even hesitate to get on the bus, but it was emotional — my little man is going to be in school all day come September!

So adorable.

I soooo remember the day my son got on the bus for the first time. In fact it still pulls at my heart strings. Now he going to be in the 6th grade! Where does the time go?

My son’s not even three and I’m already really emotional about his first bus ride! Such a sweet picture and memory, I’m sure!

Anna ~ Random Handprints June 8, 2011 at 12:33 PM

Odie Langley June 8, 2011 at 11:34 AM

He is one handsome little man but what is this, Dagmar is in the picture. Thank you very much. Made my morning.

Dagmar June 8, 2011 at 2:06 PM

Because I hardly ever get to be in pictures, I posted this one, even though L is struggling to see into the sun. I bought him 4 sunglasses but he won’t wear them :)

Jessica June 8, 2011 at 11:01 AM

So cute! What a big boy. Mine want to ride the bus too but they want it to bring them right back home… preschool should be interesting!

Verena June 8, 2011 at 7:51 AM

He looks really excited! I totally understand how you feel. I wasn´t ready when my son and daughter entered school. Luckily, I still have my little daughter at home! :o)

Happy WW!

Liebe Grüße,

What a great idea! I wonder if our school does something similar. I’m sure it helps cut down on first day of school jitters!

Amy @ babybabylemon June 8, 2011 at 6:56 AM

He looks so grown up!

Kristi {at} Live and Love Out Loud June 8, 2011 at 6:05 AM

Oh my goodness, I got teary-eyed seeing him on the big yellow bus! lol I’m sure it was a bittersweet moment for you. I bet he’ll do great, come September!

Mrs4444 June 8, 2011 at 6:01 AM

What a great idea! Glad he had fun.

Mommy's Paradise June 8, 2011 at 5:57 AM

I am sure L was so proud. Now he’s one of the big kids, isn’t he?
My little one is going to preschool next January, he’s so looking forward to going to ‘cresh’ (preschool in creole) and in a way I am too. But lets be honest: I am not. My tot is going to leave the house at 7am and coming back around 3pm, I don’t know if I’m (ever) ready for this. ;-)

Dagmar June 8, 2011 at 6:06 AM

That’s about as long as L will be gone from home! What will I do with all that time?

Lolo June 8, 2011 at 5:51 AM

That is really nice that your school district does that. Looks like he loved the bus!

Sukhmandir Kaur June 8, 2011 at 5:41 AM

Great idea, he’ll be looking forward to school all summer and riding that bus! Little men are very impressed with big vehicles. My youngest sons’ first word (besides mama) was bus after we rode public transportation when visiting the city (while he was learning to talk 20 some years ago ).
