Landon is starting full-day kindergarten in September, and I’m very aware that things will never be the same after that. So as much as I can, I want to cram some very special days with him into the next few months.
Yesterday L and I spent a wonderful afternoon in New York City and the Central Park Zoo. We have a zoo membership that is about to expire that covers several zoos, and we both had never been to the Central Park Zoo and the Tisch Children’s Zoo.
On the way, we stopped to see Don at work in Rye (which I just adore because of all the brick buildings) and then got on the train there to Grand Central Station. We took a taxi to the zoo and walked around for two hours. After we also checked out a 3D movie and the Children’s Zoo, we walked over 20 blocks (with a little snack break) and literally jumped back on the train just before the doors closed.
L didn’t once complain about all that walking and I so enjoyed that whole day. He loves riding on the train. The polar bear was taking a nap and the snow leopard nowhere to be found, but seeing the cute, agile penguins right in front of our faces made up for that. And the weather couldn’t have been more beautiful.
I love spending time with my little L.
