Dagmar’s Momsense Year in Review

by Dagmar Bleasdale on December 30, 2010

Hard to believe, but 2010 is almost over. No year before this one has come and gone this fast for me. I turned 40, Landon turned 4, and all of it was a total blur.

On one hand, I had too much fun doing what I love most — being a mom and blogging — and then there was Don’s debilitating illness in the beginning of the year, a lot of blogging events and reviews in the middle, and tons of editing and social media work in the later part of the year that kept me so busy that I didn’t have a moment to take it all in.

That’s going to change. I’m switching priorities for 2011. At times I was so overwhelmed with balancing work and motherhood that I was close to a breaking point, and I don’t want to repeat that.

I plan to make me and being a wife and mother more of a priority next year. More water, less coffee; more vegetables, less candy is the big plan, plus some long-overdue exercising. Staying up until 3 a.m. needs to change to working and blogging before L wakes up. This switch will help us both to prepare for L going to kindergarten next year.

I have many exiting new things planned for my blog in 2011. Landon won’t always be the cute little boy people like to read about, and with him, Dagmar’s momsense is also growing up.

What does this mean?

First of all, I hope to finally get to work with a certain amazing web designer to redesign my blog. She is super busy, but I’m stalking her website for signs of her taking on new clients. I can’t wait to redesign Dagmar’s momsense. So far I have done all the design work myself, but this baby is growing up and getting more successful, and it’s time for a change. I have great ideas and am looking forward to your feedback.

As I have mentioned before, I’m going to change the focus a bit from mostly writing about our life with Landon in Westchester, frugal and green living, lactivism and attachment parenting. I will also include my love of decorating and interior design in more posts. I hope you will embrace that addition — I trust that you will.

Other posts you can expect: My tips for new bloggers, Dagmar’s momsense is turning 2, Landon’s tonsillectomy (or not?), and an update on how we are doing with our new vegetarian lifestyle.

I agree that 2011 will definitely be different that 2010 and I have been trying to get that across on my blog too. We can do it because we know how important it is. You’re not getting older girl, you’re getting better.
