We owe $16 in library fees — we didn’t return the Elmo, Wiggles, Potty Power, and Trucks DVDs in time. Again. This is it — from now on we only take out one, maybe two DVDs at a time. Our library charges $2 for every day a DVD is late, which happens easily, especially if you are moving your whole household, including the borrowed DVDs.
I know, this isn’t exactly showing off my frugal side, but using our local library is still such a bargain. I gladly pay the fee because I feel like I am supporting a good cause and getting such a great deal by being a member. I often take Landon to a free storytime and craft hour with Miss Linda and hand puppet Lil they have for small kids, and now we sometimes rent DVDS for Landon. He isn’t even that interested in looking at books there, he’d rather play with the big toy dragon, sit in the tent, draw a picture, or play with the computer. See what I showed him the last time we went?
L lost himself in listening to music in the CD corner. He was listening to Wiggles songs, of course, and looking at the different CDs kept his attention for quite a while.
After we left, we walked to the nice playground they have outside, and Daddy came to play on his way home from a long day at work.
We love it when Daddy surprises us!
If you are not already a member of your local library, what are you waiting for — sign up! The membership card is usually free, and then check out and take advantage of all the great programs they offer for kids of every age. I personally am looking forward to getting L involved in the free kids movie nights and the summer reading program when he is older.
Have fun and spend some educational, quality time with your child at the library. (On a green note, the local library gladly takes your unused books, DVDs, and CDs your child has outgrown.)
