My brother-in-law, Burke St. John, owns this huge piece of land near Hudson, New York, on which he is going to build a kids’ baseball training camp. For now, only the restaurant is open, and since my other brother-in-law Steve is such an accomplished runner (he runs 2.43 marathons at age 54!), Burke decided to host the first Hudson Park 5K cross-country race today. So the whole Bleasdale clan came out in force. As I have mentioned before, everyone in this family is a great runner, the kids and the adults (not me!). Five of the kids ran the race, Don and his three sisters, and Grandma walked the more than 5K. Steve and Burke organized the race, and I was the photographer and Landon-wrangler.
James, who is 6, overtook his older brother Gregory at the end of the first lap! He won the younger category, and Gregory ran two laps and won the older category.
Landon watching his cousins run.
The younger kids after their race, and the adult before the mud bath! This race went through some fun water features!
Ready, set . . .
. . . go!
Don finishing. His three sisters came in first, second, and third in the women’s category. Did I mention that the Bleasdales are freakishly athletic?
Afterward, we all filled up with hot dogs, french fries, and ice cream.
Time to go home and take a nap! We all had a fun day.
